Apr 20, 2025 - FASSelangor FC successfully ended the 2024/25 Super League with a 2-0 victory over PDRM FC at the MBPJ Stadium, yesterday.
The match started off slowly but both teams managed to make several attacks back to back. Ifedayo Olusegun almost put Sang Saka Biru ahead in the 33rd minute of the match after successfully shooting the ball into the goal with his right foot, but it did not count because his teammate was in the offside position, making the first half remain 0-0. Four minutes into the second half, Alvin Fortes managed to score the first goal for #SFCPDRM in the 49th minute after dribbling the ball received from Safuwan Baharudin into the box and then firing the ball into the opponent's goal. In the extra time, Selangor FC scored the second goal through Yohandry Orozco after he kicked in the ball reflected from a PDRM FC defender in the 90+1 minute, making it the last sweet victory for this season.
Selangor FC Head Coach, Katsuhito Kinoshi, is happy to have fond memories of this season but wants the team to keep progressing.
“Yesterday we managed to achieve a sweet victory for the 2024/25 season and also 2nd place in the League. However, we need to continue to progress for next season. Most importantly, the team is united in facing every challenge including the players, coaches, officials and management,” Kinoshi concluded for this season and the future.
From yesterday's #SFCPDRM match, several important things can be seen, such as:-
Alvin Fortes completes goal record
The import player of the 2024/25 season who is always the talk of the town for his attacking performances, Fortes successfully completed the 20 goal scoring record in his first season with the Red Giants squad. The winger scored the Red Giants' first goal in the 49th minute of the #SFCPDRM match, after Safuwan Baharudin's header fell right to Fortes' feet, he then dribbled the ball into the penalty box before shooting in with his left foot, helping the team take the lead. Fortes is very happy to score his 20th goal in this last match of the season.
Safuwan Baharudin MoTM #SFCPDRM
Team captain, Safuwan, a figure who is a big example and is highly regarded especially among his younger teammates. Yesterday he was named ‘Man of The Match’ (MoTM) in #SFCPDRM match for his hard work helping the team especially in defending the Red and Yellow and making an assist for Alvin Fortes’ goal.
On top of that, the dedication shown by every player who gave their all on the pitch during yesterday’s closing match #SFCPDRM deserves high praise. Despite the team having secured second place in the 2024/25 Super League for the past three matches, they still delivered an outstanding performance.
Let’s not forget the fans, whose unwavering support through time, energy, and voice, it never goes unnoticed. Without you, the stadium wouldn’t come alive. A heartfelt thank you from all of us!
The management would also like to extend their congratulations to the players for securing one final victory this season, a gift to both the fans and the club. We are truly grateful for everyone’s dedication and commitment.
